Yields: 1 serving
Prep time: 2 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces tequila blanco (also known as silver tequila)
- 4 ounces grapefruit soda (such as Jarritos or Squirt)
- 0.5 ounce fresh lime juice
- Pinch of salt (optional, but recommended)
- Lime wedge, for garnish
- Ice cubes
Step 1: Prepare your glass.
Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.

Step 2: Add the tequila.
Pour 2 ounces of tequila blanco over the ice.

Step 3: Add the fresh lime juice.
Squeeze in 0.5 ounce (about half of a small lime) of fresh lime juice.

Step 4: Add a pinch of salt (optional).
If desired, add a small pinch of salt to the glass. This enhances the flavors.

Step 5: Top with grapefruit soda.
Slowly pour 4 ounces of grapefruit soda into the glass.

Step 6: Gently stir.
Use a bar spoon or straw to gently stir the ingredients together. Be careful not to stir too vigorously, as you don't want to lose too much carbonation.

Step 7: Garnish and serve.
Garnish the Paloma with a fresh lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Enjoy immediately!

Optional Variations:
Homemade Grapefruit Soda: For a more artisanal approach, use fresh grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and soda water to create your own grapefruit soda.
Spicy Paloma: Add a few slices of jalapeño to the shaker or muddle them gently in the glass before adding the other ingredients.
Smoky Paloma: Use a smoky tequila like mezcal instead of tequila blanco.
